Yiyaga Africa: A Youth Organisation That Promotes Human Rights and Democracy
7 months ago, in October 2020, Nigerian cities saw massive demonstrations that were reported around the world. Tens of thousands of young people poured onto the streets enraged by the impunity of the so-called Special Anti-Robbery Squad or SARS. Now, 7 months later, as activists work to keep these issues in the public eye, it seems a good moment to take stock. So I called Samson Itodu, founder and director of the organisation, Yiyaga Africa. He has been an advocate for young people's political participation ever since.
