Casting Through Ancient Greece

The Minowan Civilisation of Crete

Minowans were one of the earliest known civilisations to develop in Europe. Crete was inhabited by Neolithic farmers as far back as 7,000 BC and maybe even longer. It wasn't until about 2,200 BC that a fully functional civilisation began to appear. The palaces of the Minowans were found all over Crete with an abundance of tombs and cemeteries. As once the influence of another Bronze Age civilisation arrived from the Greek mainland, the Minowan civilisation would transfer into being part of the Mycenaean civilisation.
