Is Music Too Loud?

World Health Organization says 1.5 billion people in the world suffer from hearing loss. American study found 25 to 50% of 12 to 34 year olds could be affected by lasting hearing damage and some may even go completely deaf. To mark World Hearing Day, WHO brought in a new international standard for safe listening at public events. It said the average sound level should be a maximum of 100 decibels. At 80 to 85 decibels, exposure shouldn't be longer than 8 hours per day. At 100 decibel levels, the daily limit drops significantly to 19 minutes.
