The Importance of Initiation

There's always a movement away from the mother, and like I say, it's a metaphor. It is literal when it comes to the mother, the first time through the clock. The fastest way to die to an old version of yourself is through denial. You don't grow as a man until you fast. Always everywhere, cross-culturally, there will be a fast if you're to be initiated. If we're going to enact an initiation for modern man, cut off yourself from alcohol, drugs, pornography, masturbation, chasing girls, playing with your phone,. All these things that keep us hooked.
