The Future of Animal Political Communities

The third category that Donaldson and Kimlica describe are wild animals. They propose to view them as suffering communities. And I think that's helpful too in a sense to think about ways in which humans are responsible for harm done to wild animals, but still should protect their autonomy and agency as communities. But within these categories, the concepts are going to mean something else depending on the context. There's another problem and that is that we don't know enough about how animal political communities are organized.
