The Long Now Foundation and the Clock
I did not know you were involved with this when I first came across the clock a couple years ago, and I was fascinated. But essentially, you all are building a clock in the side of a mountain with the goal of being able to tell precise, accurate time for the next 10,000 years. So we've made several clocks and several versions of the clock, and there may be other versions. The idea of the clock is to keep ticking for long term. And it was to work as a mythic icon in the same way that the photograph of the whole earth really catalyzed the environmental movement.
