Canterbury Cathedral's East End Was Reconstructed in the Great Gothic Style

After Thomas Beckett was slain he was later interred in a tomb in the east end of Canterbury Cathedral. four years later unfortunately Canterbury was hit by a great fire whether it was started deliberately or not is still up for debate but what that meant was the east end essentially went up in flames. What this allowed was for Canterbury Cathedral's east end to be rebuilt so in some respects it's quite a fortunate happening for the cathedral because as i say they could redo it in the great gothic style  that was sweeping over England and Christendom wider.
