There is no complete security proof for symmetric crypto hash functions the ones we're discussing today. The problem is that people are reluctant to reduce a number of rounds and that's why I did this paper called too much crypto or I said that you know we could save a lot of energy on this planet if instead of doing 20 rounds of chacha we do half of it but it's almost like an art form. If your function is completely new if 10 years later there's no single attack no single incremental improvement maybe it means that function is not too bad.
