In western civilization, choice has been understood within a pre existing moral framework. But in the late nineteenth century, writers like friederich nica took this to an extreme. I think it's a kind of absolutization of choice over things that people in the real world want to choose. We don't want to be able to make stuff up on our own. i mean, some of us actually want to live in a religious tradition and we're deciding what's right and wrong.
