Soldier Saylor by Claire Kilroy

Claire Kilroy won the Rooney Prize in 2004 for her debut novel All Summer. She then produced another three novels at very regular three-year intervals. Then had a child and the novels stopped, an extended period of writer's block. This has now been ended with Soldier Saylor by Irish novelist Claire Kilroy. Soldier is the novels narrator, a young mother, and Saylor, her baby son. The front line they're serving on is domesticity where mothers seem to sign up for life.
