What Kind of World Would Create a Person Like Fisal?
Fisil was a man of his time and place. He would have recognized the lost thing, that lost thing that so enchanted lawrence. When you live in a place without strong institutions, personal relationships take their place. It's better to replace reputation and relationships as social regulators. Me think of it like this: A person at the bottom of the social hierarchy can't go to the police or courts against someone higher up on the social ladder. But generally speaking, people in society are going to get a fair hearing for what they've done. Things are not perfect but i can hear everyone screaming inequality at me right now. Reasonable expectation is something we should all hold ourselves responsible for.
