The Ending of Apocalypse Now
The original ending in Milius' script had the North Vietnamese forces attacking Kurtz and his followers in a giant climactic battle. Kopla kind of scrapped that because he felt that it didn't fit with the movie he was making. Instead, he took the advice of his UCLA friend Dennis Jacob and actor Dennis Hopper to create a more mythical ending.
