The Lord Blessed the Israelites
The ketehinom scrolls are estimated to be from around 600 b c. The small silver scroll on which it was written was almost surely an apotropeic amulet. An apotropaic means protective, particularly protecting against danger or evil. So we're seeing here a little tiny textu fragment coming from the practice of jewish worship from this very early era. This same basic prayer is then also found in the book of numbers, in numbers, chapter six.
