The Importance of Trust in a Broken Community

Pastor Chris: It was hard initially to gain the trust of people as they would see me in the neighborhood. When I went to Cornerstone that summer of 88, many of the older people in the community told my wife, we like him, but he's not going to make it in his neighborhood because people don't come to stay. So we just made a commitment back then 35 years ago that we would stay and that we would raise our families in that particular community. And so it's been a wonderful journey. If we were to do it all over, we would do it the exact same way.
