How do you help managers get better at parting ways with employees who aren't performing? Well, first of all, I remind them you are amazing. The second thing is to think about everyone that reports to you and if the answer is anything but "hell yes," then it's probably a no. It means providing clarity on expectations and giving feedback when those expectations aren't being met.
