The Enneagram and the Gurgia
Gurgia says that essence is what you're born with and it's how you come into the world. The personality is just the management system or the operation of those centers around the instincts, basically. When we talk about being present, the thing in us that can be present or not is essence. And so if we have a difficult time being present, we all do. It shows us how undeveloped essence is.
