The Problem With Venial Sins

If you die in a state of mortal sin without any repentance, then you're not going to go to heaven. That's the classic teaching. But there are other sins that are not as serious, which are called venial sins. Venial just comes from the word which means to be forgiven. So venial sins are light sins that don't disrupt charity. The Catholic tradition has refused to take that position.
