The Importance of Memory

In 2022, a team of psychologists from the University of Chicago did a test where they showed doctored visual examples of the mental effect to a test group alongside the real images. The test group repeatedly got it wrong even still after they were re-shown the correct images. And this really left psychologists with more questions than answers. Maybe they're just like us as a collective human race. We are notoriously unreliable narrators of our own lives.
