Is the Tyranny of the Majority a Danger?
The tyranny of the majority is one of the phrases that Tocqueville left out of his book and used ever since. What he meant by it, what he was struck up, obviously the numerical was democratic in the sense of adult white males had the vote. He realized that that gave the majority an enormous power if it chose to use it in certain different ways. His worry is about the American people, as Robert has said, they're materialistic,. so the tendency towards mediocrity and so on.
