Intro

Hollywood hated Nefarious. Critics gave it 27 percent. Audiences gave it 97 percent. And Steve Deace said he nearly died twice making it. In this episode, Lance Wallnau sits down with bestselling author and Blaze podcaster Steve Deace to talk about what really happened after Nefarious hit theaters in 2023, and why he's about to go even further with his next film. In this episode: * Why Steve says he nearly died twice, nearly divorced, and nearly went bankrupt while making Nefarious, and what he says happened on the other side of that * The real story behind the massive gap between Nefarious's 27 percent critic score and 97 percent audience score, and who Steve blames for it * Why Sean Patrick Flannery says his own Hollywood agent refuses to acknowledge he was in the film, and what happened when a major director screened it privately * The plot of Steve's new film, a redemptive supernatural thriller he describes as "the Omen meets A Christmas Carol," where the devil pitches a runaway young woman to become a demonic Mother Mary and give birth to the Antichrist * Why Steve believes storytelling, not politics, is the last place left in culture where real persuasion happens, and why he says a movie can be a bigger force multiplier than a Senate race * How Steve builds an entire script from visions he says come to him at 5 a.m., and why his son and director Damien Levett are part of the team behind this project * What it will take to finish funding the film, and how viewers can get involved Podcast Episode 2218: The Antichrist Is Coming to Hollywood?
