The Pressure to Build a New Shed in Your Backyard

There's a pressure that becomes evident in Ezra chapter three when the exiles are returning to Jerusalem to rebuild the temple. There's this pressure there under because even though they have the protection of Cyrus, the great king of Persia who issued the edict approving them to go and do this. And so it's a different mental equation that I had to run for what it would be like to build in that context. This wasn't one special thing for the Jews. This was an empire wide policy that the Persian kings employed Cyrus and then eventually his successor Darius.
