The Average Mutual Fund Does Worse Than the Average Indexes
There's been a very strong trend in mutual funds toward indexation and other forms of passive investing. A lot of people sell because they think that a dip lies ahead. They may be persuaded, for one reason or another, that either the market will have a dip or the particular asset they 're thinking about will suffer a temporary decline. This is further proof that, on average, people make mistakes.
