The Voices Within is a study of voice hearing in a bunch of different ways. It goes from schizophrenia to novelists who hear the voices of their characters so they can write dialogue. There's there's a neuroscientist in the UK named Charles Furnio. He talks about how together the interaction of these things creates a thing that he calls the empty slot or an empty chair, if you will,. Right. So when you're doing the empty chair work, it's very much like a literalizing of what's happening in your brain and then relating to that thought as if it were the thought of another.
