The only time a systematic investing produces a relatively lagging return compared just jumping all in is if the market is on a one way upward trajectory. So spreading out that decision is a way to capitalize on volatility, so to make a bigger return in more volatile markets while at the same time reducing the cost of self destructive client behavior.
