Cleveland was established on part of the connecticut western reserve. Hopewell comes from mordecai hopewell, who owned the land that was home to a series of their mounds. Whittlesey is named for eologist and archaeologist charles whittlesey. The area that became eeland doesn't appear to have had a permanent population in the decades just before its founding.
