The Cost of the San Francisco City Council's Boycott
The San Francisco City Council banned city travel to states that had limits on abortion and voting rights. After six years, the city administrator found that not a single state had ever changed any law because of the boycott. Implementing the boycott had cost the city nearly $475,000, nearly a half million in staffing expenses. It strikes me as an astonishingly dumb idea. I am glad that San Francisco recognizing it didn't do any good.
