Robots in the Water Pipes

In England and Wales, about 20% of the water supply is lost through leaks in pipes. We still lose nearly 3 billion litres every day - enough to fill more than 1,000 Olympic-sized swimming pools. In order to understand what's going on in the pipe, we need to have a presence of robots in these pipes. Professor Kiril Horishankov shows off new generation of miniature, artificially intelligent machines that will patrol and inspect water pipes from the inside. They go along the pipe, take pictures, listen to the pipe, make a decision if the pipe is likely to develop fault or not.
