I Think It's a Good Idea to Start a Foundation
I think it could be helpful for people to kind of spread and normalize and communicate important ideas about the risks we're facing as humanity. The idea that AI systems could end up with goals of their own and be dangerous to everyone is very unintuitive, I say. There's not a lot of great structure and mentorship but anyone who thinks that they could make progress on them should work on these issues says Hawking. We are not currently very good at handling pandemic risk according to him.
