Sleep Cycles Come in 90 Minute Increments

After reading why we sleep, i decided i was going to take sleep more seriously. But as a creative with an interest in the narrow science of creativity, i had already been taking sleep pretty seriously. Where i went was trying to follow walker's recommendation of seven to nine hours of sleep per night. At first this technique worked. When i woke up too early to get eight hours of sleep, i stayed in bed until i fell asleep again and got my eight hours. This went fine until early morning insomnia kicked in. It doesn't matter how long it takes me to get enough sleep, but i need that sleep to get in the right state of mind to do my work.
