Exploring Racial and Ethnic Disparities in Psychosis Diagnosis
This chapter discusses the differences in rates of effective and non-effective psychosis among different racial and ethnic groups. The researchers found that there were more cases of non-effective psychosis, such as schizophrenia, compared to effective psychosis, such as bipolar disorder with psychosis or major depression with psychosis. They also found that black and American Indian or Alaskan native participants had a higher risk of non-effective psychosis diagnosis, while Hispanics and Asians had a lower risk.
