The Importance of Having a Semantic Layer in a System
The industry is kind of aligned on semantic layer being the only one you need. If I was to advise somebody though, I would say maybe consider having primitive at the top always but that might get split in a fork so you support semantic component at the same level. That's what I would probably advise somebody to do if they really wanted to go to that level. So that would just be relying on that semantic layer.
