The original polo shirt was invented by John Renee Lacoste, a tennis player in France in 1927. Ralph Lauren basically makes a version of it and it's so interesting because Ralph Lauren's company is called polo. Like it's named after this sport that you have to be super rich to play because you need multiple horses. It's like a shirt for playing tennis but we call it the polo shirt because that's the name of the company.
