Kim Il-sung brought about the Korean War back in June, 1950. Truman's administration backtracked on its abandonment off the Nationalists on Taiwan and saved the country from Chinese invasion. So we have that in common with North Korea. No direct connection between Kim Il-sung and Taiwan, but indirectly,.Yeah, it was definitely a surprise to me when I came here as an expat.
