The History of Moscow

The grand duchy of moscow started out as a vassal of the city of vladimir. But by the mid 13 hundred it was becoming a stronger player through marriages and land acquisitions, feudal alliances and military conquests. Moscow's dynastic reach was coalescing just as the golden horde was beginning to fracture. And thus did the russian orthodox church transform into its own autonomous religious entity.
