The Little Ice Age
In retrospect, scientists call the 16 hundreds the little ice age. Entire towns and villages that used to be thriving communities in the middle ages were eventually buried by growing glacie s. Canals and rivers that were rarely ever frozen over before, like the canals in the netherlands or the thames river in england, actually froze over. And we can still to day see scenes of people skating up and down these deep frozen waterways which we practically never see frozen over to day.
