The Conrad Books Are Not a Condenatory of the Human Instinct
Kurtz: The Conrad books are profoundly critical of the whole. But it's not exactly an unvarnished portrait of the virtues of colonialism. A lot of it is about the imperialist project and where it clashes with the human instinct, he says. "No revolutions will ever be fought with Jane Austen novels in hand," Kurtz adds.
