The bubonic plague is caused when a human is infected via the bite of an infected flea. The bacteria travel through your lymph system to your lymph nodes, most commonly the ones in your armpit or groin. There are two other forms of the disease called septo-seamac and primary sepsis. It's essentially just an overload of bacteria in your bloodstream specifically.
