The Endurance Dance Marathon
In the 1930s, at the height of the Great Depression, dance contests were held across the country. You paid to enter and all you had to do was dance with your partner continuously for 45 minutes. On November 22, 1935, in Wenatchee, Washington, a dance marathon ended after 1,492 hours. That is more than 62 days of dancing continuous with 15-minute breaks every 45 minutes.
