Is There a Maintenance Cost?
Once that threshold is crossed, people will be willing to trade the current system for anything else that will offer them more. The problem with repression is that it costs a lot of capital which increases the cost of capital for police and militarized vehicles. And so in catabalic collapse, like we discussed, that's not really as much of an option. It would require, instead, that that pittance come from existing capital, which would probably mean it would come from the wealhy. And the last option is that they can increase social order by giving up their piece of the pie. Today it seems like the government is taking the route of doing a little bit of all three of those
