What Is a Heart Attack?

Sudden cardiac death is the most frequent medical cause of sudden death in athletes, recreational or competitive. On average, every three days in the United States, a competitive athlete experiences a sudden cardiac death. Exercise and athletic activity can increase the risk of sudden cardiac death in individuals who are predisposed to this. Victims can be young and apparently healthy but harbor underlined cardiovascular disease.
