The Role of Brokers in Slum Development Associations
The con joint experiment was really a kind of exercise and preference elicitation where we basically wanted to assess this choice that voters are making. And so on the con joint we give voters basically to hypothetical aspirants for a brokerage position in their settlement. We then asked them who would you prefer to be the president of your slum development association. The traits that we manipulated were traits that we thought indicated kind of indicated the ability of a broker to address the two concerns we talked about earlier.
