The Importance of Priming
I grew up in a house where every time somebody gets angry, somebody gets hit. And so we had this mental model that we develop about how things are supposed to be. Well now I'm in a class and a student sitting next to me raises their hand and I flinch. Now there's no rational logical reason for me to flinch, but my body is remembering implicitly because it senses danger. Even though there's no danger here, they're just raising their hand to answer a question. Nobody's going to get hit,. But my body doesn't know that violence isn't coming. So these forms of sensations, emotions, perceptions, mental models, priming is another feature.
