The Code of Hamerabi Was a Ground Break in Discovery

The most famous of all ancient mesopotamian law codes is the one commissioned by hamarabi himself. The status of the individual in these societies is very significant. Slaves have clearly less human value citizens and freemen. Men would be spared the kind of punishment that women would receive. For infidelity, for example, men would be allowed to play away, whereas women were to be tossed to the euphrates. If a house was to collapse and kill its owner, then the builder would be executed.
