Rolling Stones broke into US top ten in closing weeks of 1964 with Time is on my side. By 1966, even the Dave Clark Five had topped the Hot 100. Herman's Hermits doubled down on quirky approach by recording an actual music hall song from the 1910s called I'm Ennory the Eighth I Am. And like Mrs Brown, it wasn't even released as a single in the UK.
