The First Time Anyone Had Collected Snot From a Baloga Whale
Justine and her research assistant had a small boat that was about 16 feet long, or five meters. They would approach groups of baluga whales on the water before turning off their engines. The set up was kind of like a selpy stick with a clear plastic dish at the end of it instead of a smart phone. So they're literally holding it above the blow hole like somebody waiting for a baby to blow their nose,. And as they exhaled and they released that mof blow, we would collect that sample.
