The original diagnosis was DCIS or ductal invasive carcinoma in SUTU with micro invasion. The next step was, okay, surgery. I was recommended a single mastectomy without sparing my nipple because where the tumor was located. However, once it came back to be a genetic mutation, it's an automatic recommendation for a double mastectomy. And then there's so many different pathways that women could choose to go down here in this particular scenario. Some choose implants and some choose D-flap reconstruction.
