Music Technology - The Bridge Between the How and the Why

i'm trying to formulate a bridge between the how and the why. As far as teaching composition, song writing and ultimately sonic arts. I feel is the bridge, like, technology is the bridge. Some of these people didn't have composition degrees. They were just, you know, what you would call like a bedroom hippop producer. And i think hopefully i could make a little bridge with a dissertation.
