Alfred the Great - The First King
Alfred was king of england from 896 to 899. He created the first navy and a standardized tax system. Also promoted learning and classical study in schools. Was reportedly very popular, even among anglo-Saxon public. But he died at around 51 years old after suffering stomach pains.
