The Standing Jesus

When Jesus is in the posture of king and reigning, he is seated, right? As a king sits on his throne. But when he stands up to serve, that's like his role as as the great deacon of the church. He serves Stephen and he goes to him in Stephen's time of need. That's what Stephen sees. And you can almost imagine the same posture of Jesus toward the martyrs of old who are persecuted to death and he's there for them. These are things that are meant figuratively speaking to give the different ongoing postures of Jesus in his ministry to the church.
