The goal is to figure out how to maximize the upside of each view and to minimize the down side. So as the leader, i have to learn how to be an advocate for both sides. We need passionate people who will champion their sides, but we need mature people who will understand this reality.
In 2017, I discussed why a certain amount of tension is necessary for a healthy organization. Leaders must learn to recognize the difference between “conflicts that need to be resolved” versus “tensions that need to be managed.” In 2022, this is still just as important.
